Why I am Running for Re-Election

My work in our state government has just begun.

In my first term, I saw first-hand how CT needs legislators who will 1) maintain fiscal discipline to keep taxes from increasing, 2) defend local control of zoning, and 3) be voices for much-needed transparency, efficacy and results-based outcomes in state government.

I am proud of my record on these very important issues, but there is much more work to be done. That is why I am running for re-election.

In my first term, I saw the profound negative impact of one party rule in our state. The majority party (D) controls over 2/3 of the House and Senate, and currently holds the Governor’s office. This results in passage of extreme policies (HB 8002), breaches of our democratic process, and increasing pull to the extreme. We need to restore balance in CT. That is why I am running for re-election.

Finally, I believe people are tired of the vitriol in politics today and are seeking a fact-based and common sense alternative.  I have strived to be that alternative, and the response in the district and in Hartford has encouraged me to continue. That is why I am running for re-election.
